A descoberta da particella perdida do Concerto da camera col violoncello obbligato de Fernando Lopes-Graça
Abstract
The composer Fernando Lopes-Graça normally made all piano reductions of his works in the form of a particella, except for the Concerto da camera col violoncello obbligato. This work was written at the request of Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich between 1965 and 1966. The purpose of this article is the historical reconstruction of the work’s creation through analysis of correspondence between composer and cellist, and interviews with people closely involved, which led to the discovery of the lost particella in the personal archive of Mstislav Rostropovich in St Petersburg.
