Author Biography

Manuel Pedro Ferreira, CESEM / Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas / Universidade NOVA de Lisboa

Manuel Pedro Ferreira doutorou-se em Musicologia na Universidade de Princeton (1997). Professor Catedrático na Universidade Nova de Lisboa, dirigiu também, entre 2005 e 2023, o Centro de Estudos de Sociologia e Estética Musical (CESEM). Foi membro da direcção da Sociedade Internacional de Musicologia (2012-2022) e integra, desde 2010, a Academia Europaea. Tem-se dedicado sobretudo ao ensino e à investigação da música medieval, sem descurar a interpretação musical (fundou em 1995 o grupo Vozes Alfonsinas, com o qual gravou oito CDs). Publicou mais de duzentos trabalhos científicos em livros e revistas e dirigiu vários projectos de investigação. Escreveu ou coordenou mais de vinte livros. Tem-se também dedicado à composição, à poesia e à crítica musical.
